"A huge thank you to everyone involved again this year. This was the seveneth year of Pendle Pub Walk, and it still warms my heart to see how people put everything they have into raising funds for the hospice."
"The weather was pretty wet for the first few hours, so we won't thank God this year. But everybody else - I can't thank you all enough. The pub staff, the hospice volunteers, the Rotary guys & girls, our wonderful walkers of course, and a special thanks to Reedley Hallows Brewing Company who’s fantastic sponsorship of the event pays for all the Tshirts, meaning more funds for the hospice."
"Thank you so much to everyone. It really does means a lot, especially during tough economic times, and we'll look forward to seeing you all again next year for the eighth Pendle Pub Walk."
A special presentation evening was staged at the Rotary club’s meeting at the end of October, when hospice Fundraising manager Christina Cope revealed that more than £49,000 had already been raised with some sponsorship money still to come in.
Christina Cope (third from left) praised the club for their support. She said: "The Pendle Pub Walk is one of the areas favourite walks and raises a huge amount for Pendleside, thank you to all the people and even their dogs who have raised sponsorship. The atmosphere is incredible with walkers of all ages making the day a memorable one."
Hospice Chief Executive Helen McVey (second from right) was invited to the Rotary meeting to give a talk about the work of the hospice and the services it provides to the people of Burnley and Pendle.
Walker David Miller from Rosehill Ave Burnley (left) was the individual who raised the most sponsorship and he presented with a special tankard from the Rotary members for raising a wonderful £657.50. David said "I have taken part in the pub walk previously and enjoy the event very much and raised a similar amount before. I’m delighted to be able to support the hospice and thank the Rotary club members for this splendid tankard."
