Name The PPW 2011 Beer

20 Apr 2011

PPW organisers have this week launched a competition to name a beer being produced especially for the event by sponsors Moorhouses Brewery

For the second successive year (last year’s winner pictured) Moorhouses have teamed up with the increasingly popular local event. Like in 2010, the Burnley-based brewery will be producing a special beer that will be available on the day in the pubs that mark the ten mile route. So, organisers are asking people to visit the website and whilst registering for the event they are urging you to have a go at naming the beer.

The lucky winner will not only be able to see their chosen name on pump clips in pubs on the route of Pendle Pub Walk, they will also win a gallon of beer and four complimentary tickets for a guided tour of Moorhouses new brewery facility, as well as full hospitality!

PPW Grahme, one of the organisers of the event, said: "Moorhouses have been wonderfully supportive of Pendle Pub Walk and their efforts are sure to have a massive impact on our aim to raise as much money as possible for Pendleside Hospice. The 2010 special beer proved immensely popular and we were inundated with entries for the naming competition. The eventual winner was "Witch Way Now?" - so if you think you can do better than that, you could be the winner of a very generous prize."

David Grant, the Managing Director of Moorhouses Brewery said: "We were very pleased with the 2010 name and it went down very well with walkers and patrons of pubs on the Pendle Pub Walk route. There were some weird and wonderful suggestions last year, so I’m looking forward to seeing what people come up with this time round. Pendle Pub Walk is a fantastic event that is developing into a permanent fixture in the summer social calendar of hundreds of local people."
