PPW Beer Is The Last Drop

09 May 2012

PPW organisers have announced the winner of their Name The Beer competition for the 2012 charity event - raising funds for Pendleside Hospice

For the third year running local real ale specialists - Moorhouses Brewery of Burnley - have produced a beer for the popular local fund-raiser, and suggested names for the beer have been pouring in through the Pendle Pub Walk website over the last few months.

The winning name was suggested by Mike Henney of Barrowford (pictured right) who came up with "The Last Drop".

Mike wins a gallon of Moorhouses beer, and 'The Last Drop', brewed by Moorhouses, will be available in all the pubs which serve as way-points along the route of the sponsored walk.

David Grant (pictured left with the prize), the Managing Director of Moorhouses Brewery who chose the winning name said: "I like this name because it works on many different levels. It can convey the sadness in drinking your last drop of beer, whilst also linking to the 400 year anniversary since the Lancashire witches were famously hung in 1612."

PPW Grahame (pictured middle), one of the organisers of the event, said: "It's a great name for the beer! This is the third year running that Moorhouses have kindly made a beer for Pendle Pub Walk, and we can't thank them enough. Of course the beer will only be available over the weekend of the event, in all of the nine pubs involved with Pendle Pub Walk. Registered walkers should look for the unique pump clip picturing 'The Last Drop' and a hanging Puritan.

He added: "It's not just the beer that will make this year's event special. All the pubs are doing something for registered walkers. The highlights are a hog roast, barbecues, the Pendle Pub Walk Tshirts... it's going to be a really special day. So if you're not registered and raising sponsorship for Pendleside Hospice already, get registered now!"
