PPW Raises Record Amount

25 Aug 2010

Pendle Pub Walk organisers have announced that PPW 2010 walk has smashed their previous record for sponsorship - with two charities set to benefit

With some money still yet to come in, the walk organised by Burnley Pendleside Rotarians has raised £6,000 which has been split between Prostate Cancer UK and Derian House, the children's hospice.

Besides the money raised the walk had a bumper turn-out with 150 people completing the ten mile walk around some of Pendle's most stunning scenery. Many of the walkers enjoyed a light refreshment or two, courtesy of the pubs that served as way-markers on the walk.

Burnley brewery Moorhouses were an event sponsor, producing a special ale, "Witch Way Now?", that was served in most of the pubs and enjoyed by a good number of the walkers!

PPW Grahame, one of the organisers of the walk, said: "We were delighted by the turn-out and by the amount of money raised. The response was fantastic from everybody that got involved - the walkers, the pubs and our sponsors Moorhouses Brewery."

He added: "Also I must give a special mention to Karen (Bunny) Gardner - what a fantastic effort to raise £400! She's determined to win the prize for most money raised again next year, so that throws down the gauntlet to all those who have said they'll be taking part again in 2011."
