PPW Tankard For The Best

22 May 2013

The Rotary Club of Burnley Pendleside - for the fourth year now - have prepared an engraved tankard for the best fund-raiser of the year (pictured)

This special prize will be presented to the walker that has raised the most funding for Pendleside Hospice, and will be awarded during the PPW presentation evening, which will take place later in the year.

Any teams fund-raising together - like through JustGiving - have the total they raise divided by the number of walkers in their team. So it is about individual effort. PPW Paul (the admin-monkey) had this to say...

"This is what Pendle Pub Walk is all about. Our amazing walkers raising money for Pendleside Hospice and The Rotary Guys offering a prize for the best. Paid for by themselves.

"The tankard is just one of the costs that The Rotary Club of Burnley Pendleside soaks up, so then we can donate monies (leftover from the registration fees) to charity as well. After the £22,000 that the walkers raised in 2012 for Pendleside Hospice there was a stunning £5,000 leftover. This was split between Medecins San Frontier, ShelterBox, Sightsavers and WaterAid. Many thanks to The Rotary guys again, and I'd like to wish registered walkers good luck in winning the prize."
