13 Jun 2012
This is Britain - Where there is no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothes
Which makes clothing important this weekend because - according to the all-powerful BBC - the weather forecast for Saturday says that it's going to rain
Bt then again... they were wrong last year. But with this in mind, you need suitable clothing and, most importantly, FOOTWEAR! Walking boots are recommended as there is a big section of the walk that crosses through fields. The organisers walked the route this weekend, and the grass is long, and the ground very boggy in places with all the rain that we had this weekend. It will have dried out a bit this week, but there's lots of rain forecast for Friday and Saturday.
If you intend wearing trainers... well, dont! But if you have to, we suggest you buy a good product to waterproof them or even wear wellies! Then bring a spare pair, plus a spare pair of socks. Walking with soaking feet is no fun. Waterproof pants are great and zip-off pants are even better, as they convert to shorts if the sun comes out.
Yes! Let's be optimistic. Slap on some sun protection before you set off and bring the shades - let's look on the bright side - we'll have a great day whatever the weather.
AND PLEASE REMEMBER TO BRING YOUR COMPLETED SPONSOR FORM WITH YOUR UNIQUE WALKER NUMBER AND YOUR SPONSOR MONEY TOTALLED UP.
We have 700 walkers to set off this year! Last year, 500 walkers were sent on their way in the minimum time - please give us your full co-operation so we can do the same this year. Any queries on the day, see Hospice staff or Rotary members, who will be easily identifiable.
And if your in charge of a group of walkers, it is essential that you pass this information on to and walkers in your team.
And, one more time... "Hands in, Pendle Pub Walkers...... LET'S GO!!!"
