01 May 2014

PPW organisers are today publishing the route for Pendle Pub Walk 2014 - and also - they are delighted announce that The Fence Gate are the latest establishment to join Pendle Pub Walk

Paul Trudgill, one of the organisers...

"There's lots of news to report about the route this year. First of all, The Sparrowhawk start-point is full. So any walkers registering after 1st May will have to set off from the Barley start-point - the village hall, near the Pendle Inn.

"The 2014 route is very similar to last year's. But we had a gap in Fence, due to The Bay Horse (Fence) being closed. So everyone at Pendle Pub Walk is extremely delighted that The Fence Gate has come aboard. We're also delighted that the other Bay Horse - in Roughlee - has reopened, providing another refreshment break for walkers between Barley and Blacko. They have been closed since PPW 2010, so it's a pleasure to welcome them back. And both of these pubs have been recently refurbished, and are looking fantastic."

He added... "Further more, we're also delighted to welcome back The Cross Gaits Inn (Blacko). We didn't include them in PPW 2011/2012 for logistical reasons. Just to keep the length of the walk down - but if walkers don't mind an extra mile or two, it will be worth it for what the two Blacko pubs have planned for registers walkers.

"The full route this year is 13 pubs & 13 miles. If that's too much, there are two short-cuts, but you'll be missing fours pubs, two hog-roasts, a BBQ, plus more TBA. We'll be announcing all the food news when we have all the information in. Anyway... I wouldn't do either of those short-cuts, because they skip out all my favourite pubs.

"If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a video is worth a million! So everyone should just check out the video on youtube, so I can stop waffling on trying to explain the route. It shows everything."
