We Got Food

"First we eat, then we do everything else." - MFK Fisher

Everything is coming together marvellously for Pendle Pub Walk 2013 - the pubs, the routes, the Tshirts - and the food is the first thing we would like to tell you about. The pubs have some fantastic offers for registered walkers so far, including bacon-butties, a BBQ, chilli & garlic bread, a hog-roast, mixed Indian starters, pie & pies, and sandwiches. Paul Trudgill, one of the organisers, said...

"Where to start? With so much great food? Well... let's start with last year - Walker's were fed like kings during the first stage of the walk. But after the bulk of the walking, when people had covered a lot of miles and were hungry, there wasn't as much to be eaten towards the end of the route. People were getting back to The Sparrowhawk (Fence) - our start/finish point again this year- REALLY hungry.

"Of course, there's nothing wrong with walkers bringing their own food and drink. The pubs serve as way-points on the route, and walkers aren't obliged to visit them. But with some of these offers on food this year, I don't think many people will be walking passed the pubs.

"Not only will they be fed like kings (and queens) again during the first stage of the walk, but there's great food offers all the way along the route this year, as well as our roaming check-points with free drinks and chocolate bars. I've listed out what's happening with the pubs - alphabetically - because we're not announcing the route just yet, and a few pubs havn't comfirmed what they are doing yet.

"Also, I must point out - THE FOOD IS FINITE! All offers are subject to availability. And walkers should make plans accordingly, especially if they are planning to set off later in the day."
