Two Starting Points For PPW 2014

26 Feb 2014

PPW organisers have announced that the 2014 event is going to have two starting points

Walkers can choose to set off from The Pendle Inn (Barley) or The Sparrowhawk (Fence), for the sixth annual charity Pendle Pub Walk - Saturday 14th June 2014.

Paul Trudgill, one of the organisers of the event, explained further...

"First of all, it's actually the village hall in Barley. But it's that close to The Pendle Inn... where we've started Pendle Pub Walk before in the past... well, let's just call it Barley.

"Anyhoo, the number of people wanting to do Pendle Pub Walk is increasing every year. And with everyone setting off together over a few hours (10am - noon) it can make the paths and the pubs crowded. By having two starting points, at opposite ends of the route, the walkers should get more spread out around Pendle.

"For PPW 2014, we're being ambitious, and aiming for 500 walkers for both starting points, instead of limiting the event to 500 walkers overall. Registration has been open for a few weeks now - and we've had a lot of walkers sign up already - with The Sparrowhawk (Fence) being the more popular starting point so far. But when the 500 walker slots are filled at one starting point, every walker registering after that will be starting from the other.

Barley is definitely the better choice for Walkers that are wanting to park their car somewhere, with the huge car-park at the picnic-site. And The Sparrowhawk (Fence) is probably easier for walkers who are going to use public transport to get to PPW 2014."

Walkers can register now on Pendleside Hospice's website, and choose their starting point, whilst places are still available.
